From spring through fall, up to 1 million Mexican free-tailed bats emerge from Green Cave at dusk in a swirling, 10-minute spectacle that's as mesmerizing as anything at Enchanted Rock or the Congress Avenue Bridge. The camping is simple and the location is quiet — you won't find crowds here. The cave tours reveal stunning formations and the remoteness of the location means genuinely dark night skies.

April through October for bat flights — the bats are in residence spring through fall migration. Cave tours run year-round on weekends. Summer evenings are warm but the bat flight is worth it. The park is rarely crowded.
