Upper, Lower and North Pines, Wawona and Hodgdon Meadow use five-month reservation blocks released on the 15th at 7 a.m. Pacific. Arrival periods run from the 15th through the following month’s 14th. Seasonal openings and temporary changes can differ; a release date does not guarantee availability.

It depends on what you're looking for. For Families: Sites closest to Curry Village put you nearest showers, food, and the shuttle stop. For Tents: The 202 standard nonelectric sites make up most of the campground and suit tents well. For RVs: 29 RV (no hookup) sites; there are no water or electric hookups anywhere in Upper Pines.
Essentials: tent or RV (depending on site type), sleeping bags, cooler with ice, firewood (can't collect wood in most Texas parks), sunscreen, bug spray, water bottles, and headlamps. Store all food and scented items in the metal bear box at your site, no exceptions
Late spring through early fall, when the Valley's waterfalls run highest and roads are clear of snow. Summer weekends are the hardest reservations to land.
