When to Go
March through November. Summer weekends are hot but the river keeps you cool. Spring and fall are ideal.

- →Bring a tube and float the river — it is clear, cool, and beautiful
- →Watch the wild turkey roost at dusk from the observation blind (fall-winter)
- →Golden-cheeked warblers nest here in spring — bring binoculars
- →The Buck Pasture walk-in sites along the river are some of the best tent sites in Texas
