Black Rock sits in the northwest corner of Joshua Tree National Park near Yucca Valley, at a higher elevation than much of the park, which keeps it noticeably cooler. It's one of the few campgrounds in Joshua Tree with potable water and flush toilets, and it has its own ranger station and a horse corral for equestrian visitors.
