When to Go

October through April. Summer is brutally hot. Winter and spring offer the best fishing and comfortable temperatures.

Tips

  • Keep an eye out for alligators near the water — they are active here
  • Bring plenty of insect repellent — mosquitoes are fierce near the reservoir
  • Fall and winter fishing is outstanding for largemouth bass
  • Very limited shade — bring a canopy or tarp
