For RVs:Not recommended for large RVs — roads are rough and remote

When to Go

October through April. Summer temperatures exceed 110°F and are dangerous. Spring wildflower season (March-April) is spectacular.

Tips

  • Fill up on gas, water, and supplies before entering — there is nothing in the park
  • High-clearance 4WD vehicle strongly recommended
  • Carry at least 2 gallons of water per person per day
  • Check road conditions at the ranger station before heading into backcountry
