Ray Roberts Lake State Park Isle du Bois Unit campsites book through ReserveAmerica on a five-month window that opens at 8 a.m. Central. The park publishes 185 total sites in Pilot Point, about 3 hours 30 minutes from Austin and about 45 minutes north of DFW, and a $7 entrance fee. Camp.land does not run alerts for Texas parks. This guide covers the window, the site types, and what to do when your date is already sold out.
Isle du Bois sits on the south shore of Ray Roberts Lake. People come for a sandy swimming beach, largemouth bass, catfish, and crappie fishing, DORBA mountain bike trails, and a full-service boat ramp. The cross-timber forest here is post oak, blackjack oak, and eastern red cedar. The lake is big enough for powerboating and jet skis. The Johnson Branch unit across the lake is a separate entry.
Every site type at Ray Roberts Isle du Bois releases on the same schedule: five months out at 8 a.m. Central on ReserveAmerica. March through October is peak season, with summer busiest for swimming and boating. Spring fishing is excellent. Fall weekends fill for cooler weather. The 50-amp sites go first on summer weekends.
What you are choosing between:
Those counts are the published site types on the Ray Roberts Isle du Bois park page. The 185 total is the park's own standalone figure and is not a sum of those rows. Loop names and site numbers are not published in the park file, so this guide does not invent them.
Families at Isle du Bois usually want a 20/30-amp water-and-electric site. That is the largest loop, close to restrooms with showers. Larger rigs should grab a 20/30/50-amp site first. Walk-in tent sites sit 1/8 to 1/4 mile from parking and offer the most solitude. Couples can take a walk-in tent site or a quieter 20/30-amp electric site shaded by the cross-timber oaks.
Ray Roberts Isle du Bois does not list park-owned cabins. Bring a shade canopy for the beach. There is very little natural shade on the sand. The DORBA trails connect to the Greenbelt Corridor.
Missed the five-month release at Ray Roberts Isle du Bois? Cancellations still happen. Cancelled sites go straight back into ReserveAmerica, where anyone can book them. The realistic window to check is two to four weeks before your date, when early cancellation penalties are still low enough that fence-sitters bail.
Because Ray Roberts Isle du Bois is a Texas state park, there is no Camp.land alert for it. Check ReserveAmerica directly in that two-to-four-week window, and treat Sunday-through-Tuesday nights as easier targets than Fridays. Winter is the easier booking season. Do not treat Johnson Branch as a same-reservation fallback. It is a separate entry.
