Inks Lake is the most reliable swimming lake in the Texas park system because its water level barely moves, and that reliability shows up in demand too. Sites book through ReserveAmerica five months out at 8 a.m. Central, and summer weekends clear fast. How Booking Works at Inks Lake

Most Inks Lake overnight camping and lodging can be reserved up to five calendar months ahead, starting at 8 a.m. Central. Confirm the current booking method for your accommodation. Mark the exact morning rather than browsing later in the week. The busy season runs March through September, and summer weekends are the hardest to land since the lake is the whole point for most visitors.

• Live Oak - 41 water-and-electric sites at $20/night, sites 50 to 90, close to the swimming area and park store.
• Pecan Flats - 49 water-and-electric sites at $20/night, sites 91 to 139.
• Valley Spring Creek - 26 walk-in tent sites at $15/night, sites 140 to 165, wooded and secluded.
• Lakeshore cabins - 20 cabins (C1 to C20) with electric, AC and heat, kitchenettes, and covered porches at $80/night.

Picking Your Loop

Families should look at Live Oak first: sites 50 to 90 put you within walking distance of the swimming area and the store. RV rigs want Post Oak for the full hookups and larger pads. If privacy is the goal, Valley Spring Creek's walk-in tent loop is wooded and the farthest back, which also means quieter nights on loud summer weekends. And if nobody wants to sleep on the ground, the 20 lakeshore cabins come with kitchenettes and lake views, though they book as early as anything in the park.
