The park publishes 19 total sites in El Paso, about 8 hours from Austin, and a $5 entrance fee. Camp.land does not run alerts for Texas parks. This guide covers the window, the site types, and what to do when your date is already sold out.
This is the largest urban wilderness park in the US: 26,000-plus acres of Chihuahuan Desert rising out of El Paso. Camping and hiking sit in the Tom Mays area. Several walk-in tent sites require a high-clearance vehicle to reach. The Wyler Aerial Tramway nearby offers views of El Paso and Juarez. Bring plenty of water. Desert conditions hold year-round.

Hikers at Franklin Mountains State Park should book a walk-in tent site at the Tom Mays Unit. Those put you closest to trail access and offer the most solitude. Note that several require a high-clearance vehicle to reach. Self-contained RVs should take one of the 5 primitive drive-up sites. Those are not tent-friendly.
Franklin Mountains State Park does not list park-owned cabins and does not list hookups. Pack water, shade, and everything else. This is desert camping inside a city wilderness, not a full-service loop.
