Falcon State Park campsites book through ReserveAmerica on a five-month window that opens at 8 a.m. Central. The park publishes 122 total sites in Falcon Heights, a $3 entrance fee, 12 screened shelters at $25, and 12 cabins at $40. Camp.land does not run alerts for Texas parks. This guide covers the window, the site types, and what to do when your date is already sold out.
People come to Falcon for world-class birding, Falcon Reservoir bass fishing, and a mild winter climate. The park is about 4 hours 30 minutes from Austin. Summer is extremely hot (105 F+). This is primarily a winter camping park.

Families at Falcon State Park usually want a water-and-electric or full-hookup site first. Those have the most amenities and fill up fastest with winter Texans. Larger rigs should target a full-hookup site. Water-only sites are more spread out and quieter, but you cannot reserve them.
The 12 cabins have no bathroom. The 12 screened shelters have no mattresses. Bring binoculars. Fishing licenses valid for Falcon Reservoir cover both US and Mexican waters, per the park file.
Missed the five-month release at Falcon State Park? Cancellations still happen on reservable loops. Cancelled sites go straight back into ReserveAmerica. The realistic window to check is two to four weeks before your date.
