The park publishes 99 total sites in Fort Davis, about 5 hours 45 minutes from Austin, and a $6 entrance fee. Camp.land does not run alerts for Texas parks. The park sits at 5,000 feet in one of the most scenic mountain ranges in Texas. Temperatures run 15 to 20 degrees cooler than the surrounding desert. People come for the Skyline Drive Trail, Montezuma quail, Fort Davis National Historic Site next door, and McDonald Observatory star parties (book those tickets in advance). Davis Mountains State Park does not list park-owned cabins in the site table. Indian Lodge is listed as an on-site CCC building, not as a campsite row. Combine a stay with Balmorhea State Park, about 30 minutes away, if you want a second park in the same trip.
