How Does the Texas State Park Reservation System Work?

Texas state parks use ReserveAmerica (texasstateparks.reserveamerica.com) for all campsite reservations. Here is how the system works from start to finish.

Creating an Account

Create your ReserveAmerica account before you need it — not the night reservations open. The process takes 5 minutes but the system can be slow under heavy load. Save your payment info in advance.

The Booking Window

Reservations open exactly 5 months (150 days) in advance at midnight CST. For popular parks, this is the only reliable way to get a weekend site during peak season. Set a calendar alert.

Fees

  • Campsite fee: $15-$30/night depending on hookups and park
  • Reservation fee: $5 non-refundable fee per reservation
  • Day pass: $5-$8 per person for non-campers
  • Annual pass: $70/individual, $25/vehicle — breaks even after ~10 visits

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel any reservation. If you cancel more than 14 days before your arrival, you get a full refund minus the $5 reservation fee. Within 14 days, you forfeit the first night plus the fee. This 14-day window is when you see the most cancellations — and why Camp.land alerts in that window are especially valuable.

Walk-Up Sites

Some parks hold back a portion of sites for walk-up campers — people who show up at the gate without a reservation. Policies vary by park. Call ahead to check current walk-up availability before making the drive.

Never Miss a Campsite Opening

Camp.land monitors all 79 Texas state parks every 5 minutes and emails you instantly when a site opens.
