Sea Rim State Park

Sea Rim State Park is a wild Gulf Coast park where the beach meets the marshland at the Louisiana border. Unlike developed beach parks, Sea Rim offers a raw, untamed coastal experience with primitive beach camping, world-class birding in the marshes, and a kayak trail through coastal wetlands. It is the real Gulf Coast.

Guide to Sea Rim State Park

Best Campsites

For Families:Beach sites near the parking area — most accessible with restrooms nearby
For Privacy:Beach sites far from the access point — true solitude on the Gulf
For RVs:Limited RV sites with water/electric near the entrance — self-contained recommended

When to Go

October through April. Summer is extremely hot, humid, and buggy. Winter shorebird season is the biggest draw for birders.

Tips

  • Mosquitoes and biting flies are legendary here — bring serious repellent
  • Paddle the marsh trail for an unforgettable kayaking experience
  • The birding in the marshes is some of the best on the Texas coast
  • Beach camping is exposed — bring a sturdy tent and extra stakes
