When to Go

October through April. Summer heat keeps crowds down. The swimming pool helps in summer but temperatures still top 100°F regularly.

Tips

  • Reserve screened shelters for summer visits — the AC is a lifesaver
  • Bring binoculars — this is one of the best birding parks in South Texas
  • The swimming pool is open Memorial Day through Labor Day
  • Water levels on the reservoir vary — check conditions before planning boat trips
