Texas State Parks with Full Hookups (Electric, Water & Sewer)

Not all Texas state park campsites are created equal. Some have full hookups (water, electric, and sewer), some have water and electric only, some have water only, and some are primitive with nothing. If you are camping in an RV and need hookups, knowing which parks and which loops to book is essential.

Understanding Hookup Types

Full hookups means water, electric (usually 30/50-amp), and sewer at the site. You can run appliances and dump your tanks without moving. These are the most comfortable sites for extended stays.

Water and electric means you can plug in and fill your fresh tank, but you will need to use the dump station for waste. Most Texas state park hookup sites are water-and-electric rather than full hookup.

Parks with Full Hookup Sites (Water, Electric, and Sewer)

  • Lake Mineral Wells State Park — Ridgeline loop (sites 40-74) has 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer
  • Garner State Park — select river sites have full hookups; most are water-and-electric
  • Palo Duro Canyon State Park — several loops have full hookup sites for RVs
  • Pedernales Falls State Park — hookup sites available; check site details on ReserveAmerica
  • Cedar Hill State Park — large campground near Dallas with full hookup loops

Parks with Water and Electric (No Sewer)

Most Texas state parks that have hookups fall in this category — water and 20/30-amp electric at the site, with a dump station elsewhere in the campground. These include:

  • Colorado Bend State Park — Lemons Pass and Windmill loops (water + 20/30-amp electric)
  • Dinosaur Valley State Park — Dinosaur Flats and Cedar Brake loops (water + 20/30-amp electric)
  • Buescher State Park — Lakeview loop (water + 30-amp electric)
  • Lost Maples State Natural Area — most sites water and electric
  • Enchanted Rock — no electric hookups; tent and primitive only

How to Filter for Hookups When Booking

When booking on ReserveAmerica (the Texas state park reservation system), you can filter campsites by hookup type. Look for the equipment type filter and select your RV size, then filter by "water and electric" or "full hookup" to see only sites that match your needs.

Hookup sites are almost always more expensive and more in-demand than non-hookup sites. If you have an RV and are targeting a popular park on a peak weekend, set your alert early.

Tips for RV Campers in Texas State Parks

  • Check site length limits — some parks have tight roads not suitable for large rigs
  • Dump stations are available at most parks even if not all sites have sewer hookup
  • 50-amp service is less common than 30-amp in state parks — verify before booking if you need 50-amp
  • ReserveAmerica site maps show individual site dimensions — use them before booking a large rig
